How We Got To Be #1 In 1983, most of the major players in the Portland area real estate market had either gone under, sold out, or merged to stay alive. Not exactly a promising landscape to start a new real estate company, even if you’re a native to the area and familiar with the territory. Yet, on January 16, 1984, Kurt Dalbey and John Tachouet opened the doors of The Equity Group, Inc. Realtors with a total of six real estate agents in less than 1,000 square feet of office space in Raleigh Hills. In 1985, Kurt and John recognized the potential in the Sunset Corridor area and opened the second Equity Group Realtors office. That year also brought Jim Homolka into The Equity Group Realtors family. Jim’s roots in Washington County and strength in strategic planning made Beaverton the obvious choice for the next Equity Group location. The combined effects of a recovering Portland Metro area economy, rapid population growth and careful planning by The Equity Group Realtors brought a new office in Lake Oswego in 1988. With solid west side achievements, the time came to expand to the east side. The first office opened in 1991 near the junction of I-205 and Highway 224 - the heart of the Sunnyside area. Offices in Gresham, the Lloyd Center (Broadway), Tualatin, Hillsboro, south Portland (Portland Executive), 122nd Avenue, and two offices in Vancouver followed. On December 11, 2000 The Equity Group Realtors formed a partnership with RE/MAX International, Inc. to become RE/MAX equity group, inc.. Another office in Raleigh Hills and in Vancouver followed as well as expansion into Salem in the Willamette Valley south of Portland and into Bend in Central Oregon. Most recently, we have opened new offices in Dundee and Canby, and expanded into both Medford and Grants Pass bringing the total number of locations to 22. How did RE/MAX equity group achieve such solid results? One word is all it takes to sum up the reason for our success "Agents!" |
